But if you’re out of work, a parent returning to the job market, or navigating a career change, the cost of training can feel out of reach.

That’s where Universal Credit (or New Style JSA) might be able to help.

What Funding Is Available?

If you’re claiming Universal Credit or New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance, you could be eligible to receive funding through:

Your Jobcentre Work Coach, who may be able to refer you for training under the Flexible Support Fund (FSF).
Some local councils or employability schemes also offer support to help claimants gain recognised qualifications.

How Do I Apply?

Speak to your Jobcentre Work Coach Let them know you’d like to train for a CeMAP qualification, and that you’ve found a course that can help you become financially independent through employment in the financial services sector.

Wait for Approval Your Work Coach will decide whether it’s appropriate and refer you through the correct channels for payment.

Can You Use New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance?

Maybe – I've had students funded under New Style JSA, though it’s slightly less common than Universal Credit.

As with any funding, this will be decided case-by-case, so it’s always best to go in prepared and explain clearly why this training would help you secure employment.
