The Sunday Study Edit: The CeMAP 1 Secret it OUT

I'm about to make your day... seriously! It's been a HUGE week for me, after months and months of hard work the delivery of the FIRST EVER CeMAP 1 MASTERCLASS was overall a huge success! There were lots of takeaways, for me and the student group but overall the feedback has been epic and I can't wait to share it all with you soon. But enough about me! If you're currently prepping for your CeMAP 1 exam I HAVE SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF. One of my MasterClass students sat her exam yesterday (AND PASSED!) and was kind enough to give me the inside scoop on the contents! So hold onto your hats and let's work through them together...

Are. you. ready?

  1. Forget about Tax

I say it again and again, but STOP spending hours of your time working out complex tax calculations, because IF you get a question on it, it will just be 1 question, 1 mark, 1% of your score. There wasn't a single tax calculation in this particular paper.

  1. It's not going to the dogs

PET's. Potentially Exempt Transfers. The rules that relate to gifting land and inheritance tax. In the simplest terms I can muster - If your rents wanted to gift you their house now, so you didn't have to pay any inheritance tax on it when they died, then they would need to survive for at least 7 years after the gift has been given. If they were to die before that 7 year mark, a percentage of inheritance tax would be due. Check it out in Topic 4 of your textbook.

  1. It kinda is a dirty word...

If you don't giggle when you read cum-dividend then we are not the same. When a company announces a dividend payment, it will declare a date of record and an ex-dividend date.

  • The date of record is the cut off for determining which shareholders will receive the dividend payment.

  • The ex-dividend date is usually 2 business days before the date of record.

  • If you purchase a stock while it is cum dividend (on or before the ex-dividend date), you will receive the upcoming dividend payment.

If you purchase on or after the ex-dividend date, you will not receive the upcoming dividend. The stock price is usually reduced by the dividend amount at the open of trading on the ex-dividend date.

If you're reading those and spiraling into a panic - I got you.

Remember for some free study tips you've got The CeMAP Study Podcast, which is back next week and I can't wait for you to see our new look!

There are also a few spaces left on the October MasterClass . Currently the ONLY CeMAP Fast Track Course with a 7 day money back guarantee and LIFETIME ACCESS to all the materials.

Anyway - that's all from me. Remember to WEAR SUNCREAM, HYDRATE and give your doggos a time out because it's TROPICAL.

XO,

C
